About
Backend engineer, infrastructure enthusiast, and occasional photographer. Based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
I am a backend engineer working on distributed systems and infrastructure. I have spent the last decade building services that process millions of events per hour, mostly in Go and occasionally in Python. I care about reliability, simplicity, and the kind of code that does not wake you up at night.
I grew up in Jämtland, in the middle of Sweden, surrounded by forest and mountains. That landscape taught me patience and attention to detail — qualities that transfer surprisingly well to debugging race conditions. I moved to Gothenburg for university and stayed for the coffee and the sea.
Professionally, I work remotely for a US-based company, leading a team that builds ingestion and aggregation pipelines. Previously I worked at a fintech startup in Stockholm and a telecom infrastructure company in Oslo. I have seen systems fail in almost every way imaginable, and I have learned that the best systems are the ones that fail predictably.
This Site
This blog is built with a custom static site generator — about 300 lines of Python — and served by Caddy. There is no JavaScript, no analytics, no cookies, and no third-party resources. The HTML and CSS are hand-written. Hosting is on a small VPS in Stockholm.
I write about Go, distributed systems, databases, and the practical aspects of running software in production. I do not write tutorials for beginners. I write for people who have already broken something in production and want to understand why.
Open Source
I maintain a few small tools and libraries, mostly related to testing and infrastructure:
- determgo — Deterministic simulation framework for Go distributed systems
- litestream-go — Go bindings for Litestream replication
- caddy-trace — Caddy module for request tracing
Source is available on my self-hosted Git instance. Contact me for access.
